Bilo EP u košarci dal '11 ili '13, pa se čak i sastavila ona balkanska grupa u kojoj su makedonci sve prekecali. Znam da mi nismo bili u toj grupi, ali ostali valjda jesu.

Karabatic was allowed to play despite positive test

Nikola Karabatic played against Iceland on Saturday, although he handed in a positive corona test two days before.

On Thursday night, Nikola Karabatic submitted a positive corona test.

But that did not stop the French star player from being on the handball field again when he took part in France's surprising defeat to Iceland on Saturday.

And although it sounds both suspicious and illogical, there is a sensible explanation for the situation.

Back in December, Karabatic became infected with corona, and therefore he can continue to test positive, even though he no longer poses a risk of infection.

The Frenchman's CT values were so high in the positive test he passed on Thursday night that it was assessed that he posed no danger of infection. It writes EHF to TV 2 SPORT.

- It is correct that for Nikola Karabatic there was a test with a positive result after the match against the Netherlands. His medical "covid history" was subsequently looked at by our medical experts as he has previously been infected.

- He was tested again, and based on the CT values and the evaluation of his medical history, it was assessed that he was ready to play, writes EHF.

Difficult to determine CT values

Several researchers have, on the basis of laboratory studies, proposed to make a so-called "cut-off" at a CT value of over 30. This means that it is estimated that people with a CT value of over 30 have so small an amount of virus in them that they do not pose a risk of infection.

However, according to the National Board of Health , another study shows that it is not possible to set a precise cut-off for the risk of infection, as even people with a very low amount of virus in their sample (CT = 38) are able to infect.

It is still unclear how high CT values have been in the positive test that Karabatic handed in on Thursday.

Can play on

Therefore, Karabatic can basically continue to play, even if he passes positive corona tests. But that requires that the star's CT values do not fall.

France and Karabatic play again on Monday night, with Montenegro waiting. Here, France has put pressure on themselves, after losing 21-29 to Iceland on Saturday. Here, Karabatic did not exactly play the match of his life, with the star scoring just one goal in six attempts.

Wednesday night, Denmark and France meet in the two teams' last intermediate round match. All matches during the European Championships can be watched live on TV 2 PLAY.

Prenosi Arena sve.
