During an earlier press conference in the wake of the deadly fire at a Swiss resort, Béatrice Pilloud, the attorney general for Valais canton, said that a “flashover” is believed to have impacted the blaze.

Pilloud noted that the exact circumstances are unclear, but investigators are looking into whether a flashover, in which everything in a room ignites almost simultaneously, caused an explosion at Le Constellation bar.

A flashover occurs when hot gases rise to the ceiling and spread across the walls, according to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA).

The heat intensifies until all combustible items in the room reach their ignition point and catch fire.

“Flashover is when it’s when you no longer have objects in the room on fire. The room is on fire,” Steve Kerber, the Vice President and Executive Director of the Fire Safety Research Institute, told CNN.

As temperatures soar to as high as 1,000 degrees Fahrenheit [~500 °C], even firefighters in full protective gear are unlikely to survive, according to the NFPA .

“Imagine you have a whole ceiling spreading fire very quickly, the amount of energy coming from that ceiling is coming down onto all of the other combustible objects in the entire facility,” Kerber said,

“All of the objects pretty much ignite in very rapid succession, and then the whole room becomes enveloped in fire, which is not survivable.”

Two witnesses have told CNN affiliate BFMTV that the deadly fire in Crans-Montana was caused by sparklers placed in champagne bottles.

“There were waitresses carrying champagne bottles with sparklers on them, and they carried them close to the ceiling, which caused it to catch fire,” one witness said.

“One waitress was standing on another waiter’s shoulders, and the bottle and the flames were just a few centimeters away from the ceiling,” the other added.

“Once the ceiling was on fire, within about ten seconds the entire nightclub was on fire,” the first witness said. “We all ran out screaming and when we turned back, there were flames.”

Both witnesses told the French network that there were at least 200 people inside the establishment.

Two witnesses, Axel and Nathan, told CNN affiliate BFMTV they couldn’t breathe as clouds of black smoke filled their surroundings after a fire broke out at the Swiss resort.

Unable to escape at first because of the large crowd trying to leave Le Constellation bar, they decided to hide behind a table turned on its side to avoid contact with the flames. The only way out, they said, was through a window. After much effort, they managed to break a window open and escape.

An eyewitness outside the bar told French television channel France 2 that they saw smoke and people banging on Le Constellation’s windows as they tried to get out.

“There was a huge crowd movement,” he added. “Everyone was fighting to get out. It was quite difficult to watch.”

While doing this we passed in front of the constellation bar. A old lady came screaming talking about huge flames. We then saw dozens of youngster screaming for help, severely burned, desperate. 2 police cars came in 5 minutes and a fire truck also came but as it’s in the mountains first respond wasn’t ready for such an event. I ran into some injured people to lift them to a safe spot that the police designated. Kids were losing skin shreds and lost all the hair screaming of pain while in the cold cause all there clothes were burnt. Nobody was. I’m so so sad right now. Be safe everybody."

Ti klinci koji su snimali i plesali umesto da pobegnu su svakako debili, ali je tu morao da bude neko stariji da pokuša da ugasi to i da ugasi muziku i uputi ih napolje.

A vi kao tinejdzeri niste radili stvari za koje se sada hvatate za glavu? Adrenalin, testosteron u junca i alkohol brisu osecaj za strah.

Izgleda da ce u svakoj drzavi morati da se desi po masovno izginuce u kafeima i diskotekama jer, jbg, kako da cirkas ako nema vatrometa u flasama, casama, gacama promoterki i igracica.
