roksi Posted August 9, 2021 Posted August 9, 2021 ne znam da li je dostupno van oza ali da okacim za svaki slucaj (@indy ti mozda vec znas za ovo): 19 music documentaries you can (legally) stream for free right now Quote By Dan Condon Tuesday 3 August 2021 4:30pm Betty Davis Share Facebook Twitter Mail From Joe Strummer to Sarah Blasko, these films dig deep into artists and movements The best music docos inspire, entertain and educate us. They tell us more about the music that we love, when we already know every lyric and key change of every song. If you're paying for Video On Demand streaming services, you've got tons of options at your fingertips. But you don't have to give your credit card details to get entertaining and informative music movies on your screen. And you don't have to break the law, either. Here's a list of some the best music documentaries you can stream right now, without having to open your wallet. All streams are available in Australia as of Tuesday 3 August, 2021 Amy It's been ten years since we lost Amy Winehouse, and the pain remains raw. This moving film reminds us why she was such a star, though it may also make you a little uncomfortable about the role we played in her downfall. Watch it here Strummer: The Future is Unwritten The mark Joe Strummer left on the world was immense. This documentary goes beyond his work as The Clash's enigmatic leader, showing who he was before and after that era defining British punk band. Watch it here Betty Davis – They Say I'm Different Betty Davis was one of the hottest performers in 1970s funk – and that's saying something. This doco looks at her bold and brilliant career through that decade, which continue to inspire countless artists today. Watch it here Blasko Sarah Blasko narrates this documentary that's about her, but that is also about the creative struggle of an artist at a turning point in their career. A close look at how Blasko made her excellent sixth album Depth Of Field. Watch it here Marley Fascinating insights abound in this 2012 documentary about the great Bob Marley. The concert footage alone is worth your time, but you'll cherish these deeper insights into one of music's most iconic figures. Watch it here Still Ill: 25 Years of Ill Communication This sleek 15-minute doco is a perfect snapshot of what drove Beastie Boys to make their incredible 1994 LP Ill Communication. Mike D and Adrock tell the stories, with a little help from Mario C and Money Mark, and the footage is pure gold. Watch it here Control Anton Corbijn's portrait of Ian Curtis is not a documentary, but it's a captivating biopic based on the memoirs of his wife Deborah Curtis. The Joy Division frontman led a short and troubled life, and this gripping account has been praised by critics and Curtis' bandmates alike. Watch it here The Beatles: Eight Days A Week Before we get Peter Jackson's ridiculous looking opus Get Back in November, go back to Ron Howard's excellent 2016 film about The Beatles' touring years. Watch it here Devolution: A Devo Theory Forty years ago, the theories that new wave legends Devo posited seemed somewhat absurd. These days, it seems like maybe they were onto something. This short feature sees the band consider how prophetic those early ideals were. Watch it here Coachella: 20 Years In The Desert How did one little music festival become such an arbiter for modern culture? As Coachella stares down the barrel of a third postponement on the trot, this doco looks back at times that were simpler but by no means simple. Watch it here Punk Iggy Pop is an executive producer of this four-part docuseries on punk rock, which features interviews with Johnny Rotten, Marky Ramone, Debbie Harry, Flea and Dave Grohl. It tapers off a little when they attempt to cover the modern era, but it's an incredibly watchable dissection of punk music and culture, especially of the '70s. Watch it here Fantastic Man The only thing better than William Onyeabor's story is his music. The mysterious Nigerian musician was practically unknown by many for decades, but finally got his well-deserved due before passing. Watch it here Soulwax: Part of the Weekend Never Dies The 2008 documentary follows Belgian electro fellows Soulwax as they traverse the planet, starting monumental parties wherever they go. Plenty of music, but a fair bit of illuminating behind the scenes action as well. Watch it here Watch Me Jumpstart Banks Tarver's short 1996 documentary on indie legends Guided By Voices is fascinating. An engrossing look at one of indie rock's most unique and beloved acts, and a brilliant time capsule of 90s indie ascendency (and fashion). Watch it here Looky Looky Here Comes Cooky Join Steven Oliver as he and some of our country's finest Indigenous musicians and songwriters present a modern day songline that questions whether Australia's vision of Captain James Cook is blurred. It's a great line-up of artists, including Mo'Ju, Kev Carmody, Alice Skye, Birdz, Mau Power and Fred Leone, and it'll give you a hell of a lot to think about. Watch it here Country Music Ken Burns' lengthy series on country music is as exhaustive as you would imagine. It's very long and can occasionally feel a little dry, but the payoff is completely worth it. So many incredible stories that will tell you so much about the history of modern America. Watch it here What's Up Matador This tongue-in-cheek promo video for gargantuan indie label Matador Records feels like a fever dream. Come for the interviews (Jon Spencer, Yo La Tengo, Liz Phair) and stay for the bizarre Children's TV like presentation. Best watched late at night. Watch here Dubboo: Life of a Songman If you heard Stephen Page's brilliant Take 5 recently, you almost certainly want to know more about his brother David. In Dubboo: Life of a Songman, the Bangarra Dance Company pay tribute to their fallen songman, with some help from revered Indigenous musicians. Watch it here The Story Of… Ever wanted to know the story behind the making of Shaggy's 2000 hit 'It Wasn't Me'? Nope, neither have I. But I watched this video anyway and now I think you need to watch it too. Seriously, it's good. The Story Of… by Vice is about the huge hits you may or may not have forgotten about and unpick the stories that led to their creation. So far they've covered Eiffel 65, Shaggy, Vanessa Carlton, Papa Roach and Sisqo. Hopefully they have more up their sleeve. Watch it here 1
