Iseljavanje u Irsku

Ireland is expecting a further rise in corporation tax receipts in 2026, driven by a 15% minimum effective tax rate for large multinationals and continued high profitability of key firms, with revenues likely to surpass 2025's record €32.9 billion. Despite warnings of extreme concentration—where a few multinational firms pay the majority of tax—the country is experiencing a continued surge in revenue, largely driven by US tech and pharmaceutical companies.

Almost half of Corporation Tax paid by three multinationals, says fiscal watchdog

The State's fiscal watchdog has estimated that almost half of the Corporation Tax collected by the State is paid by three multinationals.

In 2024, these large companies paid around €13 billion or 46% of the tax, according to the Irish Fiscal Advisory Council.

While the organisation has not named the three multinationals, they are understood to be Apple, Microsoft and pharmaceutical group Eli Lilly.

'No members' of Sinn Féin invited to White House - US Ambassador

The US Ambassador to Ireland has said "no members of Sinn Féin have been invited to the White House" and "none are expecting to be invited".

Sinn Féin politicians had confirmed they would not attend St Patrick's Day events in Washington, due to the Trump's administration's support of Israel during its war in Gaza.

However, in a statement to RTÉ News, Edward Walsh said: "Announcing a boycott of an event for which invitations have neither been extended nor finalised is premature."

Mr Walsh said St Patick's Day in Washington "celebrates the enduring strength of the modern US–Ireland relationship.

John Edward Reagan (July 13, 1883 – May 18, 1941) was an American salesman. He was the father of U.S. president Ronald Reagan.

Jack's paternal grandfather, Michael O'Regan, son of Thomas O'Regan and wife Margaret Murphy, was a native of the village of Ballyporeen, County Tipperary, Munster, Ireland, where he was baptized in 1829. O'Regan worked as a tenant farmer during his early years in Ireland, before he moved to London not later than 1851.

Only small fraction of new homes in cities ending up on the open market for sale

https://www.thejournal.ie/how-many-houses-sold-ireland-6957916-Feb2026/

JUST A FRACTION of newly-built housing is ending up on the open market in the country’s biggest cities, according to data released by the Central Statistics Office (CSO).

The picture is different for smaller cities and in Dublin’s commuter belt, where more than half of new homes are sold to people on the hunt for housing.

Just 4% of newly-built homes saw sales completed in Dublin city – meaning that for 4,521 houses and apartments brought on stream last year, there were just 208 sold on the private market.

Median household income in Ireland passes €60,000 for first time

While incomes rose, the proportion of people at risk of poverty also moved higher, CSO says

https://www.irishtimes.com/business/2026/03/11/median-household-income-in-ireland-eclipses-60000-for-first-time/#:~:text=The%20median%20household%20income%20in,%E2%82%AC2%2C744)%20to%20%E2%82%AC61%2C666 .

The median household income in Ireland has topped €60,000 for the first time.

Figures from the Central Statistics Office (CSO) indicate that the median (or middle value) household disposable income in Ireland last year rose by 4.7 per cent (€2,744) to €61,666.

Statisticians prefer to use median values over average ones as the latter are skewed by the extremes.

When adjusted for inflation, the increase in real household income was 2.4 per cent.

The CSO’s latest Survey on Income and Living Conditions indicated that while household income increased, the proportion of people at risk of poverty also rose in 2025 to 12.6 per cent compared with 11.7 per cent in 2024.

“If cost-of-living measures such as energy credits or increased/additional social welfare payments paid to eligible households in 2024 were excluded, the ‘at risk of poverty’ rate would have been higher (14.9 per cent),” the agency said.

Being at risk of poverty refers to households with disposable income (income after tax) that is less than 60 per cent of the national median, meaning they cannot afford what is considered a normal standard of living.

The CSO data set also indicated that the richest 20 per cent of the population commanded 36.9 per cent of State’s disposable income while the poorest 20 per cent accounted for just 9.4 per cent.

The 10 per cent of households with the lowest disposable income had average nominal disposable income of €329 per week, compared with €3,496 per week for the 10 per cent of households with the highest disposable income.

Another measure of poverty is the enforced deprivation rate, which measures the percentage of households that cannot afford at least two of 11 basic goods, services and/or activities.

In 2025, 15.1 per cent of the State’s population were defined as living in enforced deprivation, down from 15.7 per cent in 2024 and 17.3 per cent in 2023.

The consistent poverty rate – those people who are both at risk of poverty and experiencing enforced deprivation – was 4.7 per cent in 2025, compared with 5 per cent in 2024 and 3.6 per cent in 2023.

“Looking at the overlap of these measures shows that the consistent poverty rate, those at risk of poverty and those in enforced deprivation, decreased in the year,” the CSO said.

“The release also highlights the higher incidence of the risk of poverty among certain groups, such as people unable to work due to long-standing health problems, the unemployed, single-adult households and those in rented accommodation,” it said.

Poruka predsednice Konoli povod dana Sv. Patrika

St Patrick’s Day Message from President Catherine Connolly

Whether we are Irish by birth or indeed by choice, today is an occasion when Irish communities around the world celebrate their shared love of all things Irish – our culture, heritage, identity and of course our beautiful language, Gaeilge.

It is a testament to that rich heritage and culture that Saint Patrick’s Day has become such a vibrant and inclusive global celebration.

It is embraced by an Irish global family of over 70 million people, many of whom have found new homes abroad and built communities over many years. That sense of home resonates so strongly with all of us, and yet today it is denied to so many.

As we gather together to celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day, it is appropriate that we recall the foundational story upon which our national day is based.

Patrick was trafficked across the Irish Sea from Britain as a young man in the 5th century only to return to Ireland as a missionary, giving voice and his life to fostering an awareness of the consequences of slavery.

The story of Patrick’s life serves as a reminder of the resilience and courage of migrants, the invaluable contributions that they have made, and continue to make, to the countries they now call home, sometimes even in the face of great adversity.

Patrick’s story speaks not only to the Ireland of the 5th century, but to the millions still subjected to trafficking, forced labour and displacement today.

As we recall the life of Patrick, we invoke his spirit and acknowledge our shared responsibilities as global citizens. We stand in solidarity with those who find themselves in vulnerable and dangerous circumstances.

Patrick’s story invites us to respond with hospitality and kindness to those suffering the consequences of war and displacement, those fleeing their countries because of persecution or violence.

The normalisation of war can never be accepted. Now, more than ever, we must renew our commitment to peace and diplomacy in line with the principles of international law as set out in the United Nations Charter.

As a neutral, independent country, a post-colonial society, and a people marked by famine and forced migration, we are uniquely placed to offer a valuable perspective on the challenges facing our world, not least war and displacement.

We are a people who have travelled our own path to peace in dealing with bitter conflict and its legacy.

We understand that peace is not merely the absence of war but also the presence of justice.

A chairde, wherever you are celebrating Saint Patrick’s Day, may I send you my warmest wishes for a day of festivities, and perhaps reflection too.

As we celebrate our special day, let us look to the future with hope, determination, a renewed respect for our shared humanity, and use our voice to promote justice and peace in our world.

Beannachtaí agus Síocháin na Féile Pádraig oraibh uilig.

Happy Saint Patrick’s Day to all of you.

Irish economic model in need of urgent reform, report suggests

https://www.rte.ie/news/business/2026/0319/1564057-economic-report/

Ireland's economic model is in urgent need of reform to sustain high living standards, according to a new report.

The study, by University of Galway Professor Alan Ahearne, said Ireland has some of the highest productivity rates in the world but this is being driven by foreign multinationals not domestic firms.

The research was funded by Irish brothers, John and Patrick Collison, who founded global payments company Stripe, which is valued at more than €135 billion.

Professor Ahearne, a former economist at the US Federal Reserve who later advised Taoiseach Micheál Martin, said Ireland was heavily reliant on a relatively small number of multinationals and needed to create indigenous high-growth firms.

"The level of productivity at foreign firms is around six times the level of productivity of domestic firms," he said.

He added the productivity of indigenous companies was "unexceptional".

The study said the reliance on multinationals was seen by many commentors as a "structural vulnerability of the Irish economy which public policy should seek to address".

Foreign-owned companies also produce three-quarters of Ireland's goods exports.

Mr Ahearne’s study said over the past 50 years, real income per person, adjusted for inflation, had tripled, rising from about €17,500 in 1970 to over €53,000 in 2023, with economic growth largely driven by investment from the US.

The report said: "Ireland could, and should, do better at encouraging and supporting high-growth indigenous businesses.

"Ireland should now consider how to use tax policy to attract human capital (talent) from abroad to augment our existing talent base."

The 'war for talent'

The study says global developments mean domestic companies might soon become the main drivers of technological progress. But it warns that there is serious doubt about their capacity in this regard at present.

The research paper says recent geopolitical developments are "radically shifting the global landscape for flows of foreign direct investment" and that Ireland needs to be better prepared for the consequences.

It says that the country needs to do more to attract and retain people with "strategic vision" and the capacity to mentor and drive domestic entrepreneurs.

Prof Ahearne says there is intensifying competition amongst countries in the "war for talent" in an effort to attract, develop and retain highly talented leaders.

John and Patrick Collison said: "This study provides clear evidence that Ireland needs to take decisive action to improve its start-up and scaling ecosystem."

Uticaj Poljske u Irskoj, konkretno Dablinu

1000003042.jpg

1000012974.jpg

Sama objava, tj. tekst, nije toliko originalan.

Smotra Irske vojske

Ispred GPO i vojske dodje Oukhtaravn i Tiseh(predsednica, trenutno, i pemijer, respektivno), procita se objava o porlgasenju Republike Irske, koju sam postavio iznad.

A sada sasvim nesto drugacije,

1000003146.jpg

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wolfe_Tone

Cuveni irski nacionalisticki bend nosi njegovo ime,

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sans-culottes

IRAe tokom gradjanskog rata.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Collins_(Irish_leader)

Bude tu veterana sukoba u Sev. Irskoj i dugogodisnjih zatvorenika u britanskim zatvrorima.

According to the Lebor Gabála Érenn (Book of Invasions), the Tuatha Dé Danann are portrayed as a divine race that originated in the Eastern Mediterranean, specifically Athens, Greece, before migrating to Ireland. They were depicted as highly skilled in magic, druidism, and arts, often portrayed as teachers of the Greeks before traveling to Ireland.

The Tuatha Dé Danann (People of the Goddess Danu). Known for their magic, advanced skills, and artistic talent, they arrived in a mist and brought treasures like the Cauldron of Plenty. They defeated the Fir Bolg and Fomorians before eventually disappearing into the hills to become the Sidhe (fairies).

Michael D Higgins has returned €2.6m to the Exchequer over the course of two terms as President.

His successor, Catherine Connolly, said during the election campaign that she would not take the full €350,000 salary as Uachtaráin, but would make donations to good causes. She offered no specifics.

Mr Higgins said he returned €384,467 under a “1938 Allowance” in his second seven-year term, in addition to €238,443 in his first term, while gifting €2m to the State in pay and pensions over the course of his presidency.

The €2m Mr Higgins gifted to the State comprised €1,310,491 in Oireachtas and ministerial pensions and €689,474 in pay over the last 14 years.

Combined with the returns of the 1938 Allowance, these figures represent a total €2,622,875 to the State over his two terms.

The figures are contained in a report available to view or download on the President.ie website. It fulfils a commitment made by Mr Higgins during the 2018 presidential election campaign to provide information to the public on his activities as president each year.

Irska dobija struju i gas, uglavnom preko Britanije.
