ja ne vidim ni plejade, kamoli kometu :lol: 

- buljio sam prethodne dve večeri ali je izgleda svetlosno zagađenje kod mene prejako, doduše video sam nlo ^_^   ali je to po brzini letenja 99% bio neki satelit, možda čak i međunarodna svemirska stanica ali to nije zanimljivo, to se može videti svake večeri za 10 tak min. posmatranja, ova kometa prolazi pored nas sada pa ponovo tek za 8000 godina, treba to dočekati ^_^

Prilazi Suncu?

Yup. U avgustu će biti najbliže Suncu (perihelion 13. avgusta, na pola puta između Zemlje i Marsa, odnosno 1.25 AU). Rosetta sve to vredno slika, meri i uzorkuje...

Sisti zato sto je Gerasimenko (kao i svaka druga kometa) nista drugo do smrznuto smrdljivo blato, pa prilikom priblizavanja Suncu, oslobadjaju se zarobljeni gasovi i prasina, a led se topi, a oko nukleusa komete, sto zapravo Rozeta snima sve vreme, formira se koma, gasovito/prasinasti oblak, a pod uticajem suncevog vetra i dva repa, belicasto/zuckasti prasinasti rep i plavicasti jonizirani. Zahvaljujuci Rozeti bicemo po prvi put u mogucnosti da od pocetka pratimo formiranje ovih kometskih fizckih karakteristika u relanom vremenu!

Kolike su šanse da se raspadne na Čurjumovu i Gerasimenka? Tj. postoje li neke studije koje su vršile procenu gubitka mase tokom jedne revolucije? 

 

Malo sam prelistao članak na vikipediji o kometi, piše da ima tri puta više deuterijuma u vodi nego na Zemlji. Koristan podatak za planiranje neke buduće benzinske pumpe za fuzione brodove. :)

Sjajno pitanje! Raspasce se, sigurno, samo je pitanje kad. A evo zasto:

 

The lifetimes of active comets are limited for at least two reasons:

First, the nuclei are losing mass at rates that cannot be sustained for very long. For example, a 5 km radius spherical nucleus would have a mass about 4x10^15 kg. When near the sun, this nucleus might sublimate at 10^4 kg/s (10 tonnes per second), so the sublimation lifetime is 4x10^11 s = 1000 years. True, the comet might spend only part of each orbit near the sun, and so might be able to keep going for more than 1000 years, but it is simply unable to sustain mass-loss for the 4.5x10^9 year age of the solar system.

Second, the active comets are under the gravitational control of the planets. There is a finite chance that a comet will be either ejected from the solar system, injected to the sun, or absorbed by an impact with one of the planets (as happened in the famous case of Shoemaker-Levy 9). The "dynamical" lifetime of a typical comet is about 1/2 million years.
