Scarlett Johansson i... ko? Dobro, među čitaocima Popboksa sigurno ima ljudi koji su slušali mladog kantautora Petea Yorna, ali teško da bi iole šira publika ikad čula za ovaj album da se u njemu ne pojavljuje Scar Jo...A poslednji put, kad je pevala obrade Toma Waitsa na albumu Anywhere I Lay My Head, to se nije dalo slušati. Kad sam čuo da sprema novi album, ponadao sam se da nije otkrila Nicka Drakea ili tako nekog. I dobro je – nije. Album Break Up, autorsko delo Petea Yorna, zapravo je dosta prijatna ploča sa zanimljivom idejom, a doprinos Scarlett Johansson taman je onoliki koliko je to potrebno.Kao što joj je uloga u filmu Izgubljeni u prevodu legla takoreći savršeno, koristeći do maksimuma njen imidž koji spaja lepoticu i mrtvopuvalo, tako i njen baršunasti glas ovde pruža nežnu pratnju Yornu dok ovaj cmizdri nad propalom romansom.Šteta zbog tog previše cmizdravog tona u dobrom delu albuma, jer bila je ovo zgodna prilika za muzički pandan pomenutom filmu, koji je valjda najbolja ljubavna priča koju sam posledenjih godina gledao na velikom ekranu (a i na malom, eno ga na TV-u svake druge nedelje), pritom bez prolivene suze.Međutim, Yorn nije muzički pandan Billa Murraya (nego recimo onog malca iz Džuna), i tu se mogućnosti ponavljanja te ideje iscrpljuju. A ideja je, rekoh, zanimljiva: snimiti album koji bi bio soundtrack jednog raskida i ništa drugo.Album otvara živahni singl Relator, koji nam odmah na startu objašnjava da tikva moža još nije pukla, ali ide ka tome. „It’s not dark yet, but it’s getting there“, rekao bi Dylan, misleći pritom na... pa, na sve na ovom svetu. Lepo je što Yorn na albumu ni ne pokazuje takve dilaneskne pretenzije, nego se zadržava na običnim ljubavnim jadima (kao da teži postoje!), ali ja sam ipak uspeo da u ovom albumu nađem neke tragove te prigušene melanholije s albuma Time Out of Mind. Doduše, ostavljam mogućnost da sam opsednut pomenutom pločom.Ima toga u tragovima i u verovatno najlepšoj pesmi na albumu, I Don’t Know What to Do, u kojoj je jedina stvar žilavija od ljubavne žudnja ona sitnica koju zovemo ponosom. Ma, znate tu priču, starija ne postoji, kao: „every time I see your eyes, I want to walk with you in moonlight/ And I know you’re not intending to go on just pretinding/ But I think it’s for the best...“.Album zatvara mudra i sublimirajuća Someday, s pomirujućom Yornovom porukom „I think I’ll leave the past behind...“, a ostaje činjenica da su dva najslabija mesta pesme u kojima dominira glas Scarlett Johansson. Reč je o pretposlednjoj Clean i u blamaži od obrade pesme Chrisa Bella, senzitivnije polovine Big Stara, I Am the Cosmos. Kažem vam, sledeći je Nick Drake.Iako autori vele da im je prvobitna ideja bila da snime album po uzoru na saradnju Sergea Gainsbourga i Brigitte Bardot, jedna druga, svežija kantautorsko-glumačka saradnja prva pada na pamet za poređenje – album Vol. 1 dueta She&Him, iza kojeg stoje M Ward i Zooey Deschanel. Bitna razlika je u tome što u slučaju She&Him većinu pesama potpisuje glumica, pokazujući izvrstan songrajterski talenat, dok je ovde stvar obrnuta.I dok tako čekamo da se Scarlett lati pera i sama napiše koju ljubavnu, možda dočekamo i neku domaću saradnju. Marija Karan i Kole? Anica Dobra i Glavaški? Nada Šargin i Kebra? Mislim da bi srpska muzička kritika pala na kolena i bilo koji uradak bilo kojeg od ovih dueta momentalno proglasila albumom godine, makar se pojavio prvog januara, a da ga pritom nisu naročito ni oslušnuli.Zato: Give Scarlett a chance.

Zasto ja ovo postujem? Pa pre svega, mislim da sam jedan od retkih kojima je Skarlet simpa i koji je gotive (a da to nije tek puko balavljenje na njen izgled, mada je i to sastavni deo mog odnosa prema njoj :P ). Nije losa glumica (dovoljno makar da ne upropasti filmove u kojima glumi), nisam slusao onaj njen album obrada Toma Waitsa (osim singla Falling Down, zbog kog sam i odustao od slusanja albuma; a mozda je trebalo, ipak Bowie peva na njemu), ali znam da je popljuvan nasiroko. Ne znam, mozda je moja naklonost prema njoj samo teranje kontre vecini :D Svi nekako zaborave da ona ima tek nesto malo preko 25 god. A i mnogo joj dobro stoji ova boja kose na fotki koju su stavili u clanak:Druga stvar, za ovog Pete-a Yorn-a sam cuo nedavno, jer je u jednoj epizodi House-a (u petoj sezoni), isla ova pesma:da ne spojlerisem, ali imala je debelog efekta na mene, mozda i zbog epizode u kojoj je isla. Mada nisam cuo nista drugo od njega. LM, evo pesme za koju ovaj u recenziji rece da je najlepsa na albumu:

Druga stvar, za ovog Pete-a Yorn-a sam cuo nedavno, jer je u jednoj epizodi House-a (u petoj sezoni), isla ova pesma:

Momak je poznat i po kasapljenju Ever Fallen In Love.Shrek 2 OSTNa tom albumu (Šrek 2 OST) takođe peva Bowie, pa potraži negde.

The Dead Weather Almost Finished Second AlbumDespite releasing their debut Horehound back in July, The Dead Weather are already working on their sophomore follow-up. According to Spin Magazine, singer Alison Mosshart said the band is done recording half of the record. With touring and promoting, the frontwoman speculates the album will be finished later this year. "In between now and Christmas I'm going to go back to [White's studio in] Nashville at some point," she said. "I think I'll spend most of December in America and finish the second record. So there will be more." With the band set to tour the U.K. on October 19, Mosshart said they have started to play new material at shows. The group's first album, Horehound, received mixed reviews from critics but has managed to propel The Dead Weather into achieving a lot the past few months. "The last year has been incredible," said Mosshart. "We never planned to be a band. Certainly I didn't think we'd be so busy and that things would go so well."

Them Crooked Vultures To Release Debut Album November 17After much speculation, rock supergroup Them Crooked Vultures has announced Nov. 17 as the release date for its debut album. Bandmates Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters, Nirvana), Josh Homme (Queens of the Stone Age) and John Paul Jones (Led Zeppelin) will put the self-produced and self-titled release out on DGC/Interscope Records. It is rumored that the first single from "Them Crooked Vultures" will be "New Fang," a song slated to hit radio on Monday (Oct. 26). The band's rep would not confirm or deny that report, however. Them Crooked Vultures emerged as one of the year's most anticipated acts after a debut gig at Chicago's Metro in August. Though details on any recorded output have been scant until now, the band has been releasing small snippets of its studio sessions. Earlier this month, Them Crooked Vultures played a small series of gigs in the U.S., including the opening night of Austin City Limits. Nme has reported that the band will do a short in the U.K. Dec. 10-17, and January tour dates in Australia and New Zealand will be announced in the coming weeks. The results have been overwhelming, filling our own galleries with thousands of images and videos from every show, and inspiring a number of ambitious fansourced video projects within the NIN community. Some of those projects are starting to surface now, and we couldn't be happier with the way the fans have organized themselves and created some truly impressive work.On the recent Wave Goodbye tour, we were unable to professionally film the band's performance of The Downward Spiral at Webster Hall, due to exorbitant fees requested by the LiveNation venue. Our open camera policy, however, remained in tact, and as soon as the show ended fans took matters into their own hands, organizing online to track down everyone who had filmed HD footage of the show. Now, only two months later, the group has released a polished, edited, downloadable DVD of the full Downward Spiral performance from Webster Hall. More info on the forthcoming Quasimode album Just a quick update on the new quasimode album, Daybreak, which is due to drop on December 2nd. The latest news is that the album will feature twelve tracks, including a cover of the classic Afro Blue.
