jms_uk Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 Pocinje nova frka u komercijalnoj avijaciji.evo i Continental - Source: Bloomberg newswires/ employee news letter Dear Co-worker:We've always said that you deserve open, honest and direct communication. This letter and the attached employee bulletin and Q&A are part of thatcommitment. The airline industry is in a crisis. Its business model doesn't work withthe current price of fuel and the existing level of capacity in themarketplace. We need to make changes in response. While there have been several successful fare increases, those increaseshaven't been sufficient to cover the rising cost of fuel. As fares increase, fewer customers will fly. As fewer customers fly, we will need to reduce ourcapacity to match the reduced demand. As we reduce our capacity, we will needfewer employees to operate the airline. Although these changes will bepainful, we must adapt to the reality of today's market to successfullynavigate these difficult times. The attached employee bulletin and Q&A outline some of the steps we aretaking to address this industry crisis. The situation for all airlines isserious, and the actions we are announcing today are necessary to secure ourfuture. We regret the loss of jobs caused by this crisis, and we will do ourbest to minimize furloughs and involuntary terminations. These actions will help Continental survive this crisis. You have ourongoing commitment to keep you informed as the industry evolves and adapts tothese unprecedented challenges. It is important that we all keep our focus onworking together during these difficult times.Co-worker ImpactAs a result of the capacity reductions, Continental will need fewerco-workers worldwide to support the reduced flight schedule. About 3,000positions, including management positions, will be eliminated throughvoluntary and involuntary separations, with the majority expected to be through voluntary programmesNetwork ChangesStarting in September, at the conclusion of the peak summer season,Continental will reduce its flights, with fourth quarter domestic mainlinedepartures to be down 16 percent year-over-year. This will result in areduction of domestic mainline capacity (available seat miles, or ASMs) by 11percent in the fourth quarter, compared to the same period last year.By the end of next week, Continental will provide details on specificflights and destinations that are subject to reduction or elimination. Yoyogi Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 Propast.Pola covecanstva uziva u subvencionisanom gorivu.
Primaju uplate preko banaka.Razlog koji su naveli je "maintenance of credit card payment system".Give me a break, ne postoji japanska firma koja bi to rekla. 24 dana "maintenance"? Edited June 9, 2008 by Yoyogi

Yoyogi Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 China Airlines is axing 100 passenger flights a month, mainly to the U.S. and Asia, spokesman Bruce Chen said by phone today. EVA Air will cancel about 5 percent of its passenger services from Sept. 1 to Dec. 1, said spokeswoman Katherine Ko.The airlines follow Qantas Airways Ltd., China Southern Airlines Co. and other Asia-Pacific carriers in announcing cuts after surcharges failed to cover surging jet-fuel costs. Higher ticket prices have also helped damp travel demand, with Taiwanese residents making 0.8 percent fewer flights overseas in the first quarter than a year earlier. The Taiwanese carriers ``lose money from every flight they make,'' said Bruce Tsao, an analyst at Capital Securities Corp. in Taipei. ``They don't have any choice'' except making cuts.

32-38K dollars a year.
Yoyogi Posted July 25, 2008 Posted July 25, 2008 Qantas, moj ponos, pokazuje znake starenja flote. Qantas B-747 400 VH-OJKA Melbourne-bound Qantas Boeing 747 with a large gash in its fuselage was forced to make an emergency landing today after a terrifying 20,000 foot drop. The plane, carrying 350 passengers, had taken off from Hong Kong and was diverted to Manila after what was described as "rapid decompression".Passengers said they heard a loud bang as oxygen masks dropped.Koja rupcaga, jos se desila u letu:
