Budimo realni...

SAD, nastavila taj trend.

Exclusive: IRGC Intelligence Unit Forced Women Footballers to Return to Iran

An informed source told IranWire that on Monday, March 9, at the same time that reports emerged about five members of Iran’s women’s national football team seeking asylum in Australia, a discreet operation was launched by the “IRGC Intelligence Organization” together with the “Ministry of Sport and Youth” to bring the players back to Iran. According to the source, this effort was carried out “without coordination” with the Islamic Republic’s Football Federation.

The source inside Iran said the IRGC Intelligence Organization pursued two parallel strategies to persuade the players to return: “exerting psychological pressure from within the country” and using “promises and deception combined with ‘advice’ from abroad.” As part of the plan, officials attempted - without informing the leadership of the Football Federation - to have “one of the executive members of the women’s national team” also apply for asylum in Australia.

Where Did the Sensitivity Toward Player Defections Begin?

Through conversations with two informed individuals close to the Ministry of Sport and the Football Federation, IranWire obtained further details about the effort to bring back the players who had fled to Australia.

One source close to the Ministry of Sport told IranWire: “The sensitivity toward athlete defections began during the January protests. A directive was sent to sports federations to cancel all preparation camps, especially those in European countries, and to stop sending athletes even to World Championships that do not impact Olympic qualification.”

The same source added that when the war between Israel/the U.S. and the Islamic Republic began, there was initially little concern within the authorities about the women’s national football team: “No one was worried because Marziyeh Jafari (the head coach) personally posted bail for the players’ return. Everyone knew the girls would do anything for Ms. Jafari; they wouldn’t let trouble come her way. That was the case until the threats began after the first match.”

According to this source, the defection of the initial five players to Australia was not considered significant enough to immediately trigger intervention by the IRGC and the Ministry of Sport. However, the situation changed after U.S. President Donald Trump sent a message to the Australian government expressing support for granting asylum to the Iranian female athletes.

Who Did the IRGC See as the Best Candidate to Enter the “Safe House”?

A source inside the Football Federation told IranWire that none of the federation’s managers or officials had been informed about the joint plan between the IRGC and the Ministry of Sport.

The operation aimed to place a member of the technical or executive staff inside the players’ “safe house” in order to convey messages from Tehran following Donald Trump’s statement of support. On the evening of Monday, March 9, discussions reportedly began about selecting a staff member who would falsely claim asylum.

The final choice was someone older than the players who had influence over them - someone whose return to Iran was guaranteed and who had no intention of actually joining the asylum process.

Zahra (Flor) Moshke-Kar, the equipment manager of the Iranian women’s national football team, applied for asylum with the Australian government on Tuesday, March 10, 2026 - just hours before the team was scheduled to travel from the Gold Coast to Sydney to return to Iran.

Who Withdrew Their Asylum Claims?

Mizan News Agency (affiliated with the Judiciary), Tasnim News Agency (affiliated with the IRGC), and the information portal of the Ministry of Sport were the first domestic outlets to report that “three members of the women’s national football team have withdrawn their asylum claims in Australia.”

All three outlets published images of Mona Hamoudi, Zahra Sarbali, and Zahra (Flor) Moshke-Kar, reporting that two players and one “equipment staff member” had traveled to Malaysia. Earlier, Mohaddeseh Zolfi - who had also applied for asylum together with Moshke-Kar - had withdrawn her request and traveled to Malaysia.

According to the source at the Ministry of Sport, once the equipment manager claimed asylum, her task was to identify the players’ residence (the safe house), track their movements, create a carefully constructed “motherly and friendly” environment to persuade them, and pass along messages from the IRGC Intelligence Organization.

The same source told IranWire that the players who remained in Australia received messages from the equipment manager that were both “encouraging and threatening.” Her role - ultimately helping convince two players to return to the team’s temporary accommodation in Malaysia - was exposed after the players who remained in the safe house contacted two officials at the Football Federation.

Tony Burke, Australia’s Minister for Home Affairs, issued a statement without naming individuals involved: “Three members of the Iranian women’s national football team have decided to return to Iran after receiving humanitarian visas. The Australian government did everything it could to ensure these women had the opportunity for a safe future in Australia. Australians should be proud that in our country, these women encountered a nation that offered them real choices and interacted with officials who tried to help them.”

Ultimately, three players remained in Australia: Fatemeh Pasandideh, Zahra Ghanbari, and Atefeh Ramazanizadeh.

Kaže Gemini (USA firma!) - Some estimates indicate the U.S. has been at war for 222 out of 239 years, though these figures often include minor skirmishes, foreign interventions, and military operations that were not "all-out" wars.

The journalist of [the TMC's TV show] Quotidien clearly specifies at the end of his column that “out of 50 deputies questioned, 15 didn’t know where to place Iran.” That helps put the hype around this truncated clip into a bit of perspective )

Just for fun...
