"Thrust not achieved... falling... Mayday! Mayday! Mayday!" Those were the last words from the cockpit of Air India Flight 171 moments before the Boeing Dreamliner slammed into BJ Medical College hostel in Ahmedabad Thursday afternoon.

Ahmedabad police confirmed the pilot's chilling distress call. It reached air traffic control (ATC) seconds before all communication ceased. Top officials said the jet had nearly exhausted the 3.5km runway at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport - usually, 2.5 to 3km is needed for a wide-bodied jet.

"The longer runway roll hints at a possibility of the aircraft not having adequate thrust for take-off," said a source close to the investigation. "The facts can be ascertained only after the black box is decoded."

No earlier warnings were flagged. "There were no requests for runway changes, thrust adjustments or flap reconfigurations. Weather was stable, visibility was clear. Temperature was high, but within operational limits," said an airport source.

CCTV footage from the airport confirmed the extended take-off roll. No visual or radar anomalies were noted. No engine irregularities or pitch deviations were detected by ATC or ground personnel. All communication and safety protocols were followed, sources said.

Authorities now await data from the flight data and cockpit voice recorders to piece together what triggered the fatal failure of thrust that doomed the flight.

“The AAIB has launched a detailed investigation, and the US National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is conducting a parallel probe under international protocols since the aircraft is American-made,” Mr [PK] Mishra [a senior aide to Prime Minister Narendra Modi] said in a statement.

“Officials confirmed that the Flight Data Recorder (FDR) and Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR) have been located and secured.”

The Turkish government has denied claims that one of its companies was responsible for maintaining the Air India aircraft that crashed in Ahmedabad earlier this week, killing 270 people. (...)

According to Turkish officials, Turkish Technic only provides maintenance services to Air India’s B777 aircraft models under agreements signed in 2024 and 2025. The crashed aircraft, a Boeing 787-8, is not covered under that contract. “So far, Turkish Technic has not maintained any B787-8 aircraft for Air India,” the department stated.

Nisam siguran, ali mislim da se ručica za stajni trap mora povući ka sebi pa tek onda gore ili dole..

On Jun 17th 2025 an official, a former Air India Captain trained by the Captain of the accident flight, stated, that the CVR has been successfully read out, the voices on the CVR are very clear. It is becoming gradually clear from the newly emerging evidence that there was probably zero negligence in the cockpit, the crew did not give up until the very last moment. The probability of a technical cause is high. A preliminary report by India's AAIB can be expected in a few days.

Obicno se pogodi vise ali jedan bude kljucan razlog, ili bar bude razlog koji je trebalo da se ni pod razno ne zanemari. Sve je moguce.

Boeing se pod novim CEO bas oporavio bio, povecali su 737MAX proizvodnju na maksimalnu granicu dozvoljenu od strane FAA, polako postajali profitabilniji... ovo bi moglo bas da ih ukanali ako se ispostavi da je i 787 imao slicne manjkavosti tokom razvoja i proizvodnje kao 737MAX. Sto, nazalost, je vrlo moguce, jer losa politija vodjenja firme je dugo trajala. Gresi nasih oceva...

Edit: Samo da dodam da je glavni problem sto niko nije isao u zatvor zbog svesnog zanemarivanja u 737MAX slucaju. Dok se to ne desi, imacemo CEOe koji ce da se kockaju zivotima drugih i buducnoscu firmi koje vode.

Valja napomenuti da je Air India otkazala već dva leta, od kojih 1 identičan ovome koji je završio u plamenu. Ili je to knee-jerk reakcija, tipična za jednu Indiju, ili...
