Gandalf Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 (edited) WASHINGTON -- House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) is not sure whether the public should be told when the federal government kills an American citizen...."Maybe. It just depends," she said in an interview with The Huffington Post this week, when asked whether the administration should acknowledge when it targets a U.S. citizen in a drone strike...."It's interesting how popular it is in the public," she said, recalling that the same polling dynamic prevailed during the fight over warrantless wiretaps. "People just want to be protected. And I saw that when we were fighting them on surveillance, the domestic surveillance. People just want to be protected: 'You go out there and do it. I'll criticize you, but I want to be protected.'"The Obama administration currently takes the position that it can essentially disappear U.S. citizens. It is never under any legal obligation to admit, even after the deed is done, that it has assassinated anyone. http://www.huffingto..._n_2685891.html Edited March 7, 2013 by Gandalf
Anduril Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 Sta li tek rade tudjima, kad svoje tako.
Indy Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 (edited) Ima raznih libertarijanaca, skoro zatvaraju pun krug. A postoji i odredjena naopaka simbioza izmedju stvarnog hipertrofiranja USA drzave (federalne, a bogme sve vise i lokalne*) i odredjenih budi-bog-s-nama marginalnih pokreta tipa milicija u Montani, survivalisti i tome sl. DarkAttraktor Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 Controversy spurs Pentagon's Hagel to review new 'Nintendo' medal The Distinguished Warfare Medal (DWM) is the first new Defense Department-wide medal to be established since 1944. The award, these officials stress, is not to be awarded for acts of valor in combat. On Friday, 22 senators signed a letter to Secretary Hagel, citing their chief complaint: “We believe that medals earned in combat, or in dangerous conditions, should maintain their precedence above non-combat awards,” they wrote. “Placing the Distinguished Warfare Medal above the Bronze Star and Purple Heart diminishes the significance of awards earned by risking one’s life in direct combat or through acts of heroism.”In the meantime, says a defense official, the production of the medal, which some have joked should include a video game joystick, has been halted.
Indy Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 (edited) Paul the Son, filibastuje. Congress' first filibuster for the 113th session took off in style. On March 6, 2013, Senator Rand Paul filibustered President Obama's nominee for director of the CIA, John Brennan, because of ambiguity in the administration's policy on domestic drone strikes. Although Paul withdrew after 12 hours, his message came across loud and clear: Obama must assure due process.Senator Paul objected to Attorney General Eric Holder's initial unwillingness to preclude the possibility of targeted killings within the United States. Indy Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 Banks too big to jail“The size of some of these institutions becomes so large that it does become difficult for us to prosecute them when we are hit with indications that if you do prosecute, if you do bring a criminal charge, it will have a negative impact on the national economy”
