Pozvao je maj

sve bube na čaj,

od ose do pčele,

da se provesele,

tihe bubamare,

leptire, bumbare,

i livadske popce,

i rudare rovce.

Spremio je maj

sudove za čaj,

izneo u polje

raznobojne šolje,

pozlaćene kupe,

čuturice skupe,

i rumene zdele,

i krčage bele.

Sipao je maj

svakom med u čaj

u crvene lale,

u zvončiće male,

u hajdučku travu,

peruniku plavu,

u žute ljutiće,

da zasladi piće.

Popio je svak,

i leptirić lak,

čaja pola litre,

zasvirale citre,

začula se truba

sviračica buba,

iz obližnjeg žbuna

zapevala žuna.
