holden kolfild Posted May 10, 2020 Posted May 10, 2020 rick novak u komentarima: I think this is my favorite song on the album, which I had the privilege to record. Gene always was inclined to sing songs slower and slower, wringing every last drop of emotion out of the lyric. While working out the arrangement Gene sang a version of this that just about made you cry, but it was 15 minutes long! :>) Mike Huey the producer/drummer was more inclined to faster pop tempos, and I tried to split the difference. Between us all, we wound up with something pretty great though.
Indy Posted May 10, 2020 Posted May 10, 2020 Plus, i ovo je zanimljivo... (sa allmusic) Quote A wonderful reading of this folk evergreen, "Fair and Tender Ladies" was one of the highlights of the Gene Clark/Carla Olson collaboration. The elegant and effective melody (possibly coming from Elizabethan folk music) frames these slightly melancholy lyrics. Clark takes some wonderful poetic license here when he adds some of his own lyrical touches, such as quoting the lyrics from the country standard "Dark Hollow," which Clark had recorded in 1969 on the second Dillard & Clark album.
