Are you expected to devote inordinate amounts of time and energy to your work? Do you spend more time with your colleagues than anyone else? Has your work taken over your life? If so, without realising it, you may be one of many Australians who have innocently slipped into working in a workplace that has become a cult.If cult qualities have come to characterise work, the broader consequences for families, societies and economies are frightening. Is it time to call in the deprogrammers to set us free?http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AZn4Z9QAJeE

Obrazovanje kao off-the-shelf proizvod: http://www.amazon.co...ref=rdr_ext_tmbWhat I mean to show is that the pursuit of individual advantage has come to exert an increasingly powerful effect on education in the United States, and that in the process private purposes have undermined the ability of the public schools to serve the public interest. When education is seen primarily as a private consumer good - a mechanism for getting ahead or for preserving existing advantage - a series of consequences naturally follow. Formal characteristics of schooling such as grades, credits and degrees come to assume greater weight than substantive characteristics, as pursuing these badges of merit becomes more important than actually learning anything along the way.The educational system begins to assume a sharply hierarchical shape in order to provide some students with ways to raise themselves above the crowd and others with ways to fail and exit the system early.Teaching takes a back seat to the more socially salient task of sorting, and grading becomes more important for its social consequences than for its pedagogical uses.Educational institutions find themselves located in a hierarchy of their own, forced to compete with other institutions for position in order to enhance the marketability of their credentials to socially mobile consumers.Under these conditions schooling takes precedence over education, and the private benefits of this schooling take precedence over the public benefits.A u vezi sa: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Credential_inflation

http://www.bitrebels...aste-your-life/The television alone hogs up 16.44 years our lives. What’s even more disturbing is that the television takes up twice as much time as the family gets. Throughout an average life, family gets just 8.38 years. And then of course we have work. On average, we spend 17.85 years working and 3.91 years getting there and back home again. Edited by noskich

Evo sta finansijska nezavisnost znaci u praksi, mozes da pokazes prst kretenima kad god hoces:http://voiceofsandie...-card-expenses/Whitfield said he did not have any problem denying the mayor’s office’s requests. He said the best advice he’s received came from his boss from his first job: Always put some money away so that you have the independence to say no, even to people above you.“I’ve got a lot of fucking money in the bank,” Whitfield said. “It allows me to sleep at night. It allows me to do my job with a whole lot integrity and not worry about losing it.”Klasicni radnik na njegovom mestu zaduzen do grla bi morao da zatvori oci pred kraduckanjem ovog sandieskog Velje.Priceless.

More than 400,000 casuals are employed on a fixed-term basis, and more than 620,000 workers are employed through labour-hire agencies across Australia.Casual employees are also heavily concentrated in certain industries, with retail, accommodation and food services together accounting for 40% of the entire casual workforce. In accommodation and food services in particular, casual workers make up an alarming 64% of all employees....Perhaps the most exploited of all casual workers are those employed through labour-hire agencies. The labour-hire agencies, titled “Temporary Staff Services”, are a $15.6 billion dollar industry, which have recorded $906.9 million in profits at the end of last year. When Australia made a move from arbitration to collective bargaining, no provisions were created for the inclusion of workers employed by third-party contractors such as labour-hire agencies

Furthermore, sham contracting targeting immigrant workers is widespread throughout the industry — packing contractors earn $300-$400 a week cash-in-hand on $7 to $10 hourly rates. The contract workers are also often subjected to routine work days of over eight hours without any breaks.

Maksimalna efikasnost.

Konzumerizam najvece zlo:http://www.fastcoexist.com/3016155/whoops-humans-officially-blew-the-planets-budget-this-weekAs the World Wildlife Fund's Living Planet report notes, Earth now needs 1.5 years to regenerate all the natural resources that humans use annually. In the last two years, that number jumped from 1.3 years to 1.5 years."I get hammered all the time about why we aren't doing more on population. When you look at the math, consumption is year after year a bigger driver of the increase from 1.3 to 1.5--a bigger driver of pushing that date earlier and earlier than almost anything else," says Carter Roberts, the president and CEO of WWF. "It raises the question: Can we make the things we consume more efficiently, and do we need to consume as much as we do?""Ultimately, we are going to have to come to grips with consuming less than we do." That will be a painful transition, especially in countries like the U.S. that have had the privilege of using endless resources with few visible consequences. It's unlikely that we can backtrack away from overshoot--at least in the short term. But there is hope. Some project that population will peak around 9 or 10 billion people and then fall over the coming century. Says Roberts: "There's a sense that we are entering a population bottleneck and we just need to get through it."Kad dodje do tog bottleneck-a bice veselo.Evo WWF istrazivanja ovde: http://wwf.panda.org/about_our_earth/all_publications/living_planet_report/2012_lpr/
