New moves in the EU toward requiring products originating in West Bank settlements to be labeled as such for the European market constitute anti-Semitism, the head of the Anti-Defamation League said Sunday, since they represent “efforts at singling out Israel” when there is no outcry over so many human rights abuses elsewhere.Speaking amid reports that the German government recently passed legislation in support of the EU labeling scheme, ADL national director Abraham Foxman said Sunday: “If the only country you want to single out is Israel, that’s anti-Semitism.”Elaborating in an interview with The Times of Israel, Foxman said that if Israel was facing boycott or similar pressures on the basis of alleged human rights abuses along with countries such as China, Saudi Arabia and others, “then I’ll argue that Israel doesn’t belong in such a list, and if I lose the argument, I’ll say you’re misguided. But if the only country you want to label is Israel, that’s anti-Semitism.”

But it means that we shall also be disconnected from the most important projects, those that are irreplaceable: All the money in the world will not give us a particle-accelerator the likes of the Swiss, where we shall no longer share the research it bears."Leading scientists, such as Ruth Arnon, the president of the Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities, recently wrote to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to make the same point.Commentators also note that Israel already signed a deal, in 1972, with the US-Israel Binational Science Foundation, which says the body will not give US money to firms which work on occupied land.Shelah spoke out the same day that Palestinian and Israeli negotiators held a new round of peace talks in Jerusalem.In a separate event, European Commission and Israeli officials on Wednesday in Tel Aviv also held first talks on Horizon 2020.The commission said in a statement the talks aim to draft a memorandum of understanding on science co-operation.It noted that Wednesday's "exploratory" talks handled only "technical and financial aspects" of Horizon 2020, while a second round, in Brussels in September, will discuss the "territorial scope" of the new EU rules.The European External Action Service (EEAS) earlier said the most prickly part of the guidelines, the so-called territoriality clause, might be softened.The clause obliges Israel to sign agreements which say it has no sovereignty over East Jerusalem, Gaza, the Golan Heights and the West Bank before it gets EU funds.According to Israeli daily Haaretz, the EEAS has also said it has "tacit support from the American administration" for its initiative, however. Inače b92 blog je najgnusnija kloaka koja se trenutno može naći u srpskoj mejntrim internet javnosti. Islamofobija cveta potpuno otvoreno (kad pročitam novi lambrosov blog, dođe mi žao što Hella nije gej; kakva bi to ljubav bila...), antisemitizam samo malo manje otvoreno (kako je Kim odavno primetio, antisemitizam i erotska uzbuđenost izraelskom "borbom za svoje interese" su tu na samo pola koraka jedan od drugog - i jedan i drugi polaze od pretpostavke da Jevreji upravljaju svetom i "bore se za svoje interese", samo što ih antisemiti zbog toga mrze, a kobajagi filosemiti bi da im se dodvore, da ih imitiraju i da se ogrebu za neko dozvoljeno etnićko čišćenje; case in point: Да су Ротшилди банкари или да су се презивали Бауер? kakva strast tinja u Palestini?

prošpartao sam  Palestinom uzduž i popreko ovih dana i video duboku podeljenost, mislim unutar njih samih. dve dominantne snage deluju u Palestini - interesantan spoj komunizma i kapitalizma, s jedne strane; i islamizam s druge strane. dok je prva struja uglavnom mirna i radina i zalaže se za ekonomski progres Palestine i rešavanje pitanja državnosti kroz političke procese, druga traži kavgu u svakoj prilici. danas sam prisustvovao u Istočnom Jerusalimu peglanju između izraelske murije i jedno stotinjak agresivnih giliptera, koji su od pokliča Palestina, Palestina, završili s šikaniranjem nekog mladog jevrejskog religioznog para s bebicom u kolicima i urlikanjem Al Aksa, Al Aksa, martiri, martiri, našta se stvorila izraelska policija, virtualno niotkuda, i krenula da pegla verske huligane.

 

situacija na Zapadnoj Obali je generalno mirna. očit je ekonomski oporavak. nasmejani Muslimani prebrojavaju turističke dolare po palestinskim sokacima. međutim kako to biva kod nas, tek što se ostvari ekonomski progres, jave se religiozni problemi. već danima se naizmenično smenjuju protesti islamista i ortodoksnih judaista gde se i jedni drugi po pravilu peglaju na kraju dana sa sirotom murijom.

kada bi neko pitao nas iz turističke branše kako smiriti Jerusalim, dali bismo veoma lagan odgovor - privrednim napretkom. no, to nije uvek lagana rabota. strašno je neophodno da u tom međuetničkom pojasu delaju mirni i kompletni  ljudi, bez tendencije podgrevanja strasti, već s ljubavlju prema gradu i visokim stepenom kulturne širine - what a better limbo for a peaceminded Serb to jump in? :)

moje kolege Palestinci s kojima se krećem po terenu su uglavnom emancipovani Muslimani, nešto nalik našim Bošnjacima pre onog surovog sukoba na našim prostorima. posve je zanimljivo da je komandir policije Starog Grada jedan Arapin, pravoslavni Hrišćanin, rođen tu. vrlo kvalitetan i plemenit lik, i uvek je otvoren da nama terencima da savete kako da se ponašamo, kuda da se krećemo da izbegnemo žarišta, i tome slično. očita je uzdržanost policije u reakcijama, pa čak i danas gde je realno bilo razloga za intervenciju. inače, i par mojih srpskih  ljudi su isti ti gilipteri s Damašćanskih vrata šikanirali... vaćarili žene, gurali prstence nekom mladom jeromonahu - koji je potpuno okej i nije iz etnofiletističke jeresi. to užasno nervira, posebno kada vi pojedinačno nosite odgovornost za bezbednost tih ljudi. dosta palestinskih klinaca nosi maske V for Vendetta, film u kojem je glumila inače naša ortakinja s Hebrew U, Nata Portman.

odlučujuća snaga iza islamizacije Palestine jesu Emirati i Saudija - to se vidi na svim bilbordima po Palestini. s druge strane su komunisti, i izgleda da arapski sekularni marksizam jedini ima autoritet da ovaj narod održi na istorijskoj putanji razvoja i osamostaljenja bez trzavica pogibelji.

sutra su protesti religioznih Jevreja  protiv odluke izraelske vlade da moraju da služe vojsku i plaćaju poreze, kao i da se ne mole na platou Plemenitog Svetilišta do daljnjeg - ja svoje dažbine plaćam uredno do poslednjeg moneypenny-ja. Jerusalim se zatvara u 11h. nadam se da neko neće upaliti šibicu i ugasiti ovu neku neobično mirnu vedrinu.
