Najveći Trampov donor je suvlasnik firme/hedge fonda Renaissance Technologies, Robert Mercer

Rebekah Mercer, Daughter of Major Donor, Named to Trump Role

November 11, 2016 — 9:10 PM

Rebekah Mercer, whose wealthy family has sought for years to reshape conservative politics with a populist, anti-establishment message, was named to President-Elect Donald Trump’s transition team.

Mercer, the 42-year-old daughter of New York hedge-fund manager Robert Mercer, will serve as one of 16 members of the team’s executive committee, the group said in a statement Friday. It’s a sign of how the Mercers’ longstanding effort to influence the direction of the Republican Party is paying off.

Robert Mercer made his fortune as co-CEO of Renaissance Technologies, one of the most profitable hedge funds in history. Armed with her father’s money, Rebekah Mercer oversaw a pro-Trump political action committee that poured millions of dollars into advertising during the run-up to Tuesday’s election.

And two of the family’s closest political advisers, Stephen Bannon and Kellyanne Conway, guided the Trump campaign to victory over its final months and are now positioned for senior roles in the Trump administration. Through spokesmen, both Mercers declined to comment.

Rebekah Mercer is a mother of four and a political rookie whose previous experience includes working as a Wall Street trader and operating a gourmet cookie company. Beginning in 2010, her father started pouring millions of dollars into conservative causes, and Rebekah handled the details of his political and charitable projects.

Before this week, many of their biggest political efforts ended in failure, including support for Mitt Romney, the Republican presidential nominee in 2012, and for Ted Cruz in this election cycle’s Republican primary.

Trump was a victory for the family on several fronts. They helped fund a 2015 book, "Clinton Cash," by Peter Schweizer, that highlighted conflicts of interest involving Hillary Clinton and her family’s foundation -- conflicts that Trump drew on to shape his message. This year, Rebekah Mercer was a co-executive producer of a "Clinton Cash" movie.

And the Mercers are key investors in Cambridge Analytica, a data and analytics company that uses "psychographic" models to target individual voters based on their personality types.

Some previous clients have questioned the effectiveness of the company’s work, but Rebekah Mercer encourages politicians and campaigns that benefit from her family’s money to give Cambridge a try. Originally skeptical of the company’s pitch, the Trump campaign hired it around the same time that the Mercers shifted their financial support into Trump’s column earlier this year.

Cambridge is already bragging about its role in a historic electoral upset. The timing is especially good because the company is gearing up for a long-planned push into commercial advertising following the election. "We are thrilled that our revolutionary approach to data-driven communications played such an integral part" in Trump’s victory, Alexander Nix, the Cambridge CEO, said in a statement this week.

The Mercer family also has a financial stake in Breitbart News, the populist media outlet that was run by Bannon before he joined the Trump campaign. An ardent advocate for Trump, the site shattered traffic records during the campaign, and reached 37 million unique visitors in October.

The Mercers keep a low profile and have never spoken publicly about their political views outside of a series of written statements they made during the course of this year. The statements mention their opposition to gun control and "open borders and open trade."

"America is finally fed up and disgusted with its political elite," the Mercers said in an Oct. 8 statement. "Trump is channeling this disgust and those among the political elite who quake before the boom-box of media blather do not appreciate the apocalyptic choice that America faces."

Robert Mercer is intrigued by monetary policy and, in years past, has funded efforts to try to resurrect the gold standard. One sign that his views may get some traction in the administration: in August, Trump added economist Judy Shelton to his advisory team. Shelton is a well-known advocate for the gold standard, and spoke at a Mercer-funded conference on the topic in Wyoming last year.

The dispute has languished in internal IRS litigation for years, and a person with knowledge of the matter said it’s still unresolved. Were Renaissance to prevail, however, Mercer wouldn’t be the only one to celebrate. Renaissance’s founder and chairman, James Simons, is a leading Democratic donor who spent at least $7 million supporting Hillary Clinton.

Onaj maskenbal od pre dva dana gde se pojavio Tramp je organizovala upravo Rebeka Mercer:

HEAD OF THE HARBOR, N.Y. (AP) — President-elect Donald Trump, still mulling key Cabinet positions, attended a lavish costume party Saturday night hosted by some of his biggest donors at their palatial Long Island mansion.

Trump, who did not sport a costume, reveled with guests at the Mercer family estate for the annual Christmas party; this year's theme was "Villains and Heroes." An invitation to the annual December party is a coveted ticket in Republican circles, never more so than this year. Several strategists who helped engineer Trump's upset win were attending, including incoming White House senior counselor Stephen Bannon and senior aide Kellyanne Conway.

Both Conway and Bannon have close ties to Rebekah Mercer, the daughter of hedge fund manager Robert Mercer. The younger Mercer became Trump's leading and most influential donor and urged him to bring Bannon and Conway into the campaign in August.

Rebekah Mercer, who ran a pro-Trump Super PAC, had compared the electoral race between Trump and his Democratic opponent Hillary Clinton to an "apocalyptic choice," so the night's "Villains and Heroes" theme was perhaps fitting.

dakle stfu

Tako nekako... :)

Kellyanne Conway, a top adviser to Mr. Trump, told reporters on Sunday that the search had expanded beyond the four men thought to be under consideration and that Mr. Trump planned to interview additional candidates early this week.

Those new candidates appeared to include John R. Bolton, an ambassador to the United Nations under President George W. Bush; Jon M. Huntsman Jr., the former Utah governor and ambassador to China under President Obama; Rex W. Tillerson, the president and chief executive of Exxon Mobil; and Senator Joe Manchin III, Democrat of West Virginia.

Comey’s FBI Needs to Investigate Violent Democratic Tantrums -   Michael Banerian, one of Michigan’s 16 electors, told CNN: “Obviously, this election cycle was pretty divisive. Unfortunately it’s bled over into the weeks following the election and I have been inundated with death threats, death wishes, generally angry messages trying to get me to change my vote to Hillary Clinton or another person, and unfortunately, it’s gotten a little out of control.”     http://observer.com/2016/12/comeys-fbi-needs-to-investigate-violent-democratic-tantrums/

Break Free and Lead, or Resign: A Letter to Bernie Sanders Posted on Dec 6, 2016

Dear Bernie Sanders,

In our times of fear, growing bigotry and uncertainty, I feel obligated to appeal to you. As a former campaigner of yours, I write this letter with sadness, rage, disappointment, fatigue and fear, but also a hopeful look toward the future.

Disillusioned with Barack Obama, I supported Jill Stein for President in 2012. However, when this election cycle came along, I, like many others, decided to change my registration from “Independent” to “Democratic” in order to vote for you in the primaries. Fortified by knowledge of the dangers of a Clinton candidacy, I strongly felt you were our best hope for meaningful change and warding off the Republicans.

Bernie, you ran an impressive campaign that inspired millions. I remember standing on line for hours to see and hear you speak in the Bronx, only to be turned away due to overcrowding at the rally venue. Black, brown, yellow, red, white, young, old, gay, straight, what have you. Everyone was there, excited to hear you speak. People saw you as a progressive alternative to the status quo of corruption and injustice both here in the United States and abroad. You called out corporate tyranny, recognized many of the ills of our society, suggested constructive solutions to some of our biggest quagmires and even had the guts to openly declare yourself a socialist. In a landscape of fake, propped up, sell-out, hypocritical, cowardly, Teflon candidates- you projected integrity and strength. I felt that supporting you was important, even though your social and economic policies did not go far enough, and your foreign policy was a light version of the morally corrupt neoliberal imperialist agenda.

But then you buckled, sold out, betrayed many of your promises and obediently became the sheepdog of Hillary Clinton and the lords of the establishment you once stood against. Disappointed and disgusted, I and others jumped ship back to the Greens, with the hope that you would acknowledge the gross corruption of Hillary Clinton and the Democratic Party that unfolded via WikiLeaks and others on a daily basis, and join us toward a revolution of American politics.

Some have argued that the nomination was stolen from you by the Democratic National Committee with help from mainstream media. Others claim that it may have been a collaborative effort between Republicans and Democrats to elevate Hillary Clinton as the Democratic nominee, in which case Clinton was cast the role of useful idiot walking blindly toward her doom. Evidence from WikiLeaks’ Podesta emails indicates that there may have been some sort of “leverage” used against you. In any case, it is clear that you were played.

As you repeated many times during your speeches: enough is enough! Establishment politics and economics have brought us to the precipice. We face a form of neo-fascism that used to be dismissed as dystopic science fiction: a “deep state” so powerful it tramples the constitution. A collusion of money and power that creates a corporate stranglehold on workers, black and brown communities, immigrants, LGBTQ individuals, indigenous people and other minorities. The corporate state is only ratcheting up its violence and discrimination; see Standing Rock. Our new reality feels like helplessly watching impending doom in slow motion. To be clear, Trump’s modus operandi is obvious: when his supporters recognize his betrayal and place him on the spot, he will scapegoat easier, more vulnerable targets. Trump and his cronies have been preparing the ideological groundwork for this catastrophe.

Throughout this campaign cycle you projected two dialectically opposed personas. Doctor Jekyll was a unifier, a truly independent and courageous thinker and statesman with a selfless mission to better our country and world. Mister Hyde was an opportunistic and frightened tool who championed the working class and progressive/radical causes only when they aligned with his career objectives.

If you are the people’s champion you claimed to be throughout your campaign, it is past time to wash your hands clean of, and harshly condemn all things related to the Democratic Party. Democrats have learned nothing from their shameful failures and will create no meaningful opposition to the right-wing white supremacist agenda that will take hold of the United States in several weeks. Their impotence is evident, as further conveyed by the shameful non-response of the current Democratic administration to the legitimate protests in North Dakota. Any hopes for their reform are a complete waste of time we do not have.

The choice is clear, Bernie. Break free and lead, or resign. If you continue operating as the left flank of a broken system, you are part of the problem, not the solution.

Join or form a third party with a clear radical agenda that will truly combat the looming neo-fascism in government, on the streets, and in sites of struggle such as North Dakota, or do everybody, including yourself a favor and resign from political life. Whether you call yourself a Democrat or Independent let’s not kid ourselves, you are currently serving the establishment. Your continued support of a two-party system, a lesser-evil mentality and for the reform of a party that humiliated you and continues to shame your core constituency legitimizes the corruption in Washington and is highly detrimental to the causes you claim to champion.

Bernie, it is not too late. You still have the opportunity to shape a future and a commanding legacy of courage, struggle and solidarity. Seize it!
