For better or worse. Edited February 7, 2017 by MancMellow

Pokojni Ruxin Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 Luis Suarez has defended the technical qualities and power of Liverpool failure Andy Carroll, but said the English striker simply could not survive under Brendan Rodgers at Anfield. Writing in his autobiography, which is being serialised in The Guardian, Suarez reveals the excitement he felt as Rodgers implemented his "pass and move" philosophy at Liverpool after succeeding Kenny Dalglish as the club's manager. He reveals how Rodgers first impressed while still Swansea City manager, telling Suarez in Spanish how much he admired him. And he describes how Rodgers imposed a radical tactical approach, insisting Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina and his central defenders developed the confidence to build attacks slowly from the back by exchanging short passes with central midfield players. Suarez says the change in style suited him perfectly, but meant Carroll's future lay away from Liverpool. Suarez writes: "I need the ball on the floor and Brendan knew that. Rodgers knew if he put me in as a static No 9, waiting for wingers to put in crosses, I'd be no good. "Given the type of game Andy offered, it was natural Brendan didn't include him in his plans. Andy is tall, strong and good in the air. But I think people were wrong about him: he was also technically very good indeed. He can strike a ball very cleanly and with so much power. Yet for a short, passing game in which you are looking to release people into space, he doesn't fit." Carroll's £35 million move to Liverpool remains the highest fee ever paid for an English footballer. Liverpool took a £20m loss when they sold him to West Ham United, where he has been frustrated by a series of injuries. Suarez writes of the pleasure of training under Rodgers, arguing the Northern Irish coach carried a Spanish influence over all his work. He said the change in style was embodied by the decision to replace Charlie Adam with Joe Allen, the player described by Rodgers as the Welsh Xavi. Suarez also pays tribute to the way Rodgers improved Jordan Henderson, who Suarez says had the intelligence to graduate from being a fringe player to an essential part of Rodgers's plan.
Pokojni Ruxin Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 (edited) Evo i jedan svežiji i dosta za sad Luis Suarez has credited Brendan Rodgers for helping him become a better player - as the former Liverpool boss is lined up to take charge at Celtic. The Scottish champions have interviewed Rodgers twice and majority shareholder Dermot Desmond confirmed last night the new boss could be named by the weekend. The South American superstar striker said: “He is one of the best coaches in Europe and I am not surprised he is looking to get back in to the game because it is a game he loves. “I am glad he has taken his time since leaving Liverpool. He should only be looking at the top jobs, with the top clubs, who will be playing Champions League football. “If it was not for Brendan, then I know I would not be the same player that you see at Barcelona today. “Such a big part of my education is down to him and his management. “Of course he works to make the team stronger but he really works on a one to one level with the players. “He will sit down with each player at the club, and work on where you can improve, where you can exploit opposition, he leaves nothing to chance. “He is a very intelligent man. If the players at his next club listen to his words, they will become better players for sure.” Suarez has been the world’s best striker this season with his staggering goal return helping Barca win La Liga again.
