Trump: I don't trust U.S. intelligence information

by NICK GASS

08/17/16 09:35 AM EDT

Donald Trump offered a blunt explanation for why he wants retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn at his side as he gets his first classified briefing at FBI headquarters on Wednesday — he doesn't trust intelligence information coming from those currently in charge.

"I think he's a great guy. I've gotten to know him. He's been a real fan of mine and defender of mine and he's a terrific guy, a terrific general — tough, smart. Feels like I do about illegal immigration, in particular," Trump told Fox News' Ainsley Earhardt in Milwaukee on Tuesday night. "He wants to make sure the right people are coming into our country, not the people that we're probably taking in right now. We don't even know who we're taking in. I mean, we have people coming into our country, we have no idea who they are, where they come from and he's somebody that I believe in."

Earhardt followed up by asking whether Trump trusts "intelligence."

"Not so much from the people that have been doing it for our country. I mean, look what's happened over the last 10 years. Look what's happened over the years. It's been catastrophic. And, in fact, I won't use some of the people that are sort of your standards, you know, just use them, use them, use them, very easy to use them, but I won't use them because they've made such bad decisions," said Trump, who will also be joined by New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie at the inaugural briefing. "You look at Iraq. You look at the Middle East. It's a total powder keg. It's a — if we would have never touched it, it would have been a lot better. I mean, we would have been much better off. On top of which, we've spent probably $4 trillion. Nobody even knows what we've spent. So, no, I have great people, and Gen. Flynn is one of them."

Rudy Giuliani, the former mayor of New York City and a Trump supporter, said he agreed with Trump's decision to have Flynn accompany him for the briefing.

"He should take Gen. Flynn with him to be able to ask critical questions. This is the art of being a good executive," Giuliani explained. "If I were going to a national security briefing as a presidential candidate, and I've had top security clearances as associate attorney general, U.S. attorney, even as mayor during Sept. 11 in particular, I would take one or two experts with me to critically analyze it."

Echoing Trump, Giuliani remarked, "the reality is, our intelligence has been terrible."

"I mean, our intelligence has really let us down on a number of occasions, and there's something substantially wrong with the way we gather intelligence," Giuliani said. "When the president of the United States can say just a short really, just a short while ago that ISIS is the JV team, something is wrong with our intelligence."

Kako Trump lupi, odu polovi na 8-10%.

Kada ne lupi, reverts to normalnih 5%. Poslednja cetiri pola 5, 6, 1 i 4% za Klintonovu. I tako ce verovatno biti u novembru. Rutinska pobeda ali ne i landslide.

Momci & devojke, jel' ste gledali Green Party town hall?

Baraka did not demure when confronted with his more strident comments about Obama, like calling him an "Uncle Tom."

"If we were concerned and serious about how we could displace white power, we had to demystify the policies and the positions of this individual," Baraka said, referring to his attempt to "shock" people out of faith in Obama's transformative potential.
He conceded that his language sounded "inflammatory" to some, but said, "I stand by that."

Nearly 15,000 emails recovered by the FBI from the private server used by Hillary Clinton when she was secretary of state are set to be made public just before the presidential election in November, it emerged in court on Monday.

The state department said it was reviewing 14,900 documents that came to light in the now-closed investigation into the handling of sensitive information that flowed through the server in question. That is a major addition to the 30,000 emails that Clinton’s lawyers considered work-related and returned to the department in December 2014.

The FBI cleared Clinton of criminal conduct but found her to have have been “extremely careless”, and the saga continues to dog her. On 5 August the FBI completed a transfer of several thousand previously undisclosed work-related emails for the state department to review and publish.

Responding to the news, the Republican National Committee chairman, Reince Priebus, said Clinton “seems incapable of telling the truth”.

State lawyers told federal judge James Boasberg on Monday they expected to release the emails in batches on 14, 21 and 28 October and 4 November. The election, against Republican nominee Donald Trump, takes place on 8 November.

Boasberg ordered that the department should aim for a more ambitious deadline. The judge set another hearing for 22 September, so progress can be reviewed.

Racism and talk of religious war: Trump staff's online posts

Donald Trump's paid campaign staffers have declared on their personal social media accounts that Muslims are unfit to be U.S. citizens, ridiculed Mexican accents, called for Secretary of State John Kerry to be hanged and stated their readiness for a possible civil war, according to a review by The Associated Press of their postings.

The AP also reviewed the public social media accounts of more than three dozen employees of Hillary Clinton's far larger campaign staff and found nothing as inflammatory. One staffer said Trump's style of speaking reminded him of a roommate who had taken too many hallucinogenic mushrooms. AP also reviewed images attached to more than 19,000 stolen internal emails from the Democratic National Committee for racially or religiously inflammatory memes, finding nothing of note.

...

On Facebook, Mark Kevin Lloyd of Lynchburg, Virginia, who has been paid $36,000 as Trump's field director in the state, shared a post June 30 calling Islam "a barbaric cult." He shared a meme June 16, four days after the Orlando nightclub shooting by a heavily armed Muslim who professed allegiance to the Islamic State group. The meme said people should be forced to eat bacon before they can purchase firearms.

Dann attributed inflammatory comments of other Trump staffers to the fact that the campaign had drawn on people inexperienced in politics. While he has been politically active for decades — originally as a leftist, he said — he described the field staff Trump acquired in the primary as unfamiliar with traditional campaign rules"We get hired because there was no one left," Dann said.
