akibono Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 (edited) Sirotinjo, (rijaliti) televiziji si najdraža...Nije baš neki šou, jer dok nesretnicima ne podele mačete i vile pa da se love do poslednjeg nije to - TO! Even Reality TV Is Pitting Struggling Americans Against Each OtherCBS’s The Briefcase does a disservice to America’s working families by billing their suffering as primetime entertainment.Last week, CBS premiered The Briefcase, a new reality program created by David Broome, who also produces The Biggest Loser. In contrast to participants on other hit reality shows, people inThe Briefcase aren’t competing for an all-expense paidhoneymoon prize or the opportunity towork as head chef at a world-renowned restaurant. Rather, struggling families are presented with a briefcase filled with $101,000 cash, enough to lift them out of their current economic hardship so that they are no longer living paycheck to paycheck. But the “life-altering sum of money,” as Broome puts it, is not offered without a stipulation: The Briefcase then callously calls on these families to determine whether they are willing to share the cash prize with another family that is judged to be in equal or greater need. The briefcase recipients are presented with information about the other family’s hardships in order to determine whether they are more deserving of the cash, or at least some portion of it. Then there is a face-to-face meeting between the families where it is revealed if and how the money will be divvied up, and—wait for it—that both families had actually been given the cash-filled briefcases and told to decide who was more deserving of the dough. In effect, The Briefcase pits one family’s financial hardship against that of another, pushing families on the brink to “prove themselves” worthy of the cash assistance. ima i trejler, pravi hit!
Gradjanin nije duzan da se identifikuje policajcu: When do I have to show ID?This is a tricky issue. As a general principle, citizens who are minding their own business are not obligated to "show their papers" to police. In fact, there is no law requiring citizens to carry identification of any kind. You've probably seen old movies where the protagonist is approached by a Nazi or Soviet guard and ordered to "show your papers." We know that's a tell-tale sign of a police state. So if police ever ask you to show ID during your travels, it's natural to feel violated. In a free society, citizens who are minding their own business are not obligated to "show their papers" to police. In fact, in the United States there's no law requiring citizens to carry identification of any kind. So when can police ask for ID?Carrying an ID is generally required if you're driving a vehicle or a passenger on a commercial airline. These requirements have been upheld on the slippery premise that individuals who prefer not to carry ID can choose not to drive or fly. From here, ID laws only get more complicated. In Hiibel v. Sixth Judicial District Court of Nevada, the Supreme Court upheld state laws requiring citizens to reveal their identity when officers have reasonable suspicion to believe criminal activity may be taking place. Commonly known as "stop-and-identify" statutes, these laws permit police to arrest criminal suspects who refuse to identify themselves. As of 2012, 24 states had stop-and-identify laws. Regardless of your state's law, keep in mind that police can never compel you to identify yourself without reasonable suspicion to believe you're involved in illegal activity. But how can you tell if an officer asking you to identify yourself has reasonable suspicion? Remember, police need reasonable suspicion to detain you. So one way to tell if they have reasonable suspicion is to determine if you're free to go. You can do this by saying "Excuse me officer. Are you detaining me, or am I free to go?" If the officer says you're free to go, leave immediately and don't answer any more questions. If you're detained, you'll have to decide if withholding your identity is worth the possibility of arrest or a prolonged detention. In cases of mistaken identity, revealing who you are might help to resolve the situation quickly. On the other hand, if you're on parole in California, for example, revealing your identity could lead to a legal search. Knowing your state's laws can help you make the best choice. Remember that the officer's decision to detain you will not always hold up in court. Reasonable suspicion is a vague legal standard, and police often make mistakes. So if you're searched or arrested following an officer's ID request, you may contact an attorney to discuss the incident and explore your legal options.
UCLA law professor Paul Bergman, who teaches a "Street Law Clinic," appears to agree: Once a police officer identifies the suspect as matching a description of people involved in committing a crime, even a low-grade misdemeanor, it gives the police officer the right to do a minimally invasive investigation. And an investigation, typically, even the most minimal investigation, consists of asking for identification. The refusal to provide identification generally gives the police officer the right to investigate further. He said refusing to identify oneself to a cop investigating you for even a misdemeanor would, as the police union noted, constitute alleged obstructing or delaying a police officer. "That in itself is a misdemeanor committed in the officer's presence," Bergman said. Edited June 8, 2015 by Eraserhead
