minka Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 By DSG Tuesday, 20th July 2010 Football.co.uk's rundown of the 20 Premier League players to watch this season continues, with Birmingham City's Nikola Zigic the focus of our attention. Name: Nikola Zigic Age: 29 Club: Birmingham City Zigic started his football career way back in 1991, joining the youth setup of Serbian minnows Backa Topola, before graduating to the senior team in 1998. A phenomenal record of 68 goals in just 76 games helped him secure a move to top-flight outfit Red Star Belgrade in 2003. The giant striker, who stands at almost 6ft 8in, continued his goal-scoring prowess at his new side, bagging 47 goals in 79 appearances. His prolific form in front of goal led to widespread interest from around Europe, with the Serbian international eventually settling on a move to Spanish side Racing Santander in the summer of 2006. After 11 goals in his debut season, free-spending Valencia splashed the cash to sign him in a 19 million euro deal. Despite his hefty price-tag, Zigic failed to find his feet at his new club, managing just five goals and 28 appearances during his three year stint at the Mestalla. Prior to a disappointing World Cup campaign with his country this summer, Nikola was snapped up for £6m by Alex McLeish's Birmingham City. With incredible height and a great goal-scoring record, Zigic has the ability to pose a major threat to Premier League defences this season.
stevo glogovac Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 ovo je hodočašće dragi moji...THE players have been given the morning off to visit to Beijing’s Forgotten City.Nikola Zigic appears to be something of a culture vulture on this trip. Wherever he goes the Serbian is seen snapping away on his iPhone and it’s no surprise to see the striker further filling his memory card at the 15th century complex.
