Honda has no plans to run F1 engine on track before 2015Honda has no plans to run its new Formula 1 engine on track before the start of pre-season testing in 2015.The Japanese manufacturer will return to F1 as engine supplier to McLaren for the second season of the new regulations and is scheduled to fire up its engine on the dyno for the first time this autumn. But contrary to rumours it might take advantage of not competing in 2014 to test on track either in an F1 car or a test mule, Honda motorsport boss Yasuhisa Arai insists it has no intention to do so."It is a rumour and people have talked about it but we do not have any such plans," Arai told AUTOSPORT."In terms of the timing of when you will be able to see the engine running in the actual vehicle, maybe it will be around the time you say [January/February 2015]."We are hoping we will get to show our engine at that time."While time constraints will also make it difficult to run the complete engine on track before then, with a full package complete with ERS not expect to be run on the dyno until next year, Arai suggested bench testing would be more beneficial."I think it is going to be more efficient to use the dyno," he said. "Maybe that is going to give us more benefits."Arai added that he expects there to be both advantages and disadvantages to Honda joining F1 in 2015.While this will give Mercedes, Ferrari and Renault a year of experience of running the engines, it will allow Honda more time to develop its power unit."In terms of the advantages, we can say that it is going to give us enough time to spend on designing and developing the engine," said Arai."But while we can observe other teams struggling or have other issues, we can only see how they deal with the challenges and see the performance updates."But as for how they did it, it is in our imagination."http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/108796?

Pat Symonds replaces Mike Coughlan at Williams Formula 1 team Pat Symonds will join Williams next month in place of technical director Mike Coughlan, who has left the team with immediate effect.Symonds, who has worked as a technical consultant for the Marussia team since 2011, will take up the role of chief technical officer on August 19.AUTOSPORT understands that the change has been made as a result of the team's struggles this year, with Coughlan stepping aside as part of a move to strengthen the squad technically after failing to score a point so far this season."I'm delighted that Pat is joining the team," said team principal Frank Williams."His technical capabilities and sporting successes speak for themselves and I'm sure that his knowledge and leadership will contribute considerably to the success that all of us at Williams are working hard to achieve."Symonds, who has left the Marussia team to take up this role, is confident that the team has everything it needs to return to its historical heights."Williams is a team steeped in success and engineering excellence and I'm honoured to be asked to play a role in returning the team to its rightful place at the pinnacle of F1."Sir Frank, Mike and Claire have put in place the foundations for success and I'm immensely excited to begin this new challenge."Group chief executive officer Mike O'Driscoll stressed that the move was motivated by the team's commitment to returning to winning regularly. He paid tribute to Symonds' skills, which he believes will play a key role in doing this."Williams's sporting and engineering heritage dictates that we secure the finest talent available."Pat brings unrivalled technical and managerial skills in addition to a proven ability to deliver on track results."Our commitment to return Williams to winning ways is absolute and this appointment is yet more evidence of our collective desire to return the team to the position is deserves."Coughlan played a key role in the squad's strong 2012 season, with Pastor Maldonado ending a victory drought stretching back to the end of 2004 with a win in Spain last year.Williams has thanked him for his contribution since joining in 2011 after a major technical restructure in the wake of Sam Michael's departure as technical director."The team thanks him for the significant contribution he has made since 2011 and wishes him well in his future endeavours," said a Williams statement.PAT SYMONDS IN F11981-1985: THE TOLEMAN YEARSSymonds was recruited by Toleman at the start of 1981 ahead of its graduation to Formula 1. He played an increasingly important role for the squad, almost winning the Monaco GP as race engineer to Ayrton Senna in 1984 and claiming a pole position in Germany with Teo Fabi a year later.1986-1991: BENETTON'S EMERGING YEARSWith the team renamed Benetton, Symonds acted as race engineer for several big-name drivers before switching to the Reynard F1 programme, which never came to fruition.1991-1995: THE SCHUMACHER YEARSSymonds returned to Benetton and acted as Michael Schumacher's race engineer, along with other senior engineering management responsibilities. During this period, the team won two drivers' and a constructors' championship.1996-2002: THE WILDERNESS YEARSBenetton struggled to recapture past glories during this period. Symonds was appointed technical director in November '96 in the wake of Ross Brawn's move to Ferrari. During these seven seasons, the team won only once, with Gerhard Berger at Hockenheim in '97. In 2001, Benetton was renamed Renault.2003-2007: THE ALONSO YEARS, PART 1Symonds, who became engineering director in F1, was instrumental in the team's revival. Fernando Alonso was promoted from test to race driver in 2003, winning in Hungary. In 2005/2006, Alonso and the team claimed both the drivers' and the constructors' championships. The loss of Alonso, as well as the switch to Bridgestone tyres, led to a win-less 2007 campaign.2008-2009: THE ALONSO YEARS, PART 2After a year at McLaren, Alonso returned in 2008 and won two races before the team again slumped in 2009. That season, it emerged that Nelson Piquet Jr had deliberately crashed in Singapore a year earlier to facilitate Alonso's victory. As a consequence, Symonds and team principal Flavio Briatore were banned from F1.2011-2013: THE MARUSSIA YEARSAfter spending two seasons out of F1, Symonds returned in 2011 as a technical consultant to Marussia, leading to an upturn in the squad's fortunes. This year, as de facto technical director, he started to attend races again. He will join Williams as chief technical officer next month.

Formula 1 chief Bernie Ecclestone indicted in bribery caseFormula 1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone has been formally indicted by German prosecutors investigating allegations of bribery. The charges relate to Ecclestone's role in the sale of F1 to CVC in 2005, and come in the wake of the sentencing of German banker Gerhard Gribkowsky, who was given eight and a half years in prison for corruption.Ecclestone admitted making payments to Gribkowsky, but said he did so because he had been threatened with blackmail.Ecclestone told the Associated Press that his lawyers "have accepted an indictment. It means they have to reply to the indictment which they are strenuously doing."He also confirmed prosecutors were "alleging I bribed someone" but says he did "nothing illegal."His legal team is expected to submit its response to the Munich court in the next few weeks. The court will then weigh up the merits of both prosecution and defence before deciding whether the case will be heard.Ecclestone said in December last year that he would likely be removed from his role as F1 boss if he faced further action over the case.Speaking about what CVC would do if he was charged, Ecclestone told the Sunday Telegraph: "[it] will probably be forced to get rid of me if the Germans come after me. It's pretty obvious, if I'm locked up."http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/108827?

Mercedes F1 boss Ross Brawn expecting many engine failures in 2014Formula One transition next year to turbo V6 power could be a bumpy oneMercedes F1 Ross Brawn is expecting the 2014 Formula One season to be characterized by engine failures. After years of engine regulation stability, the sport is undergoing an enormous technical shakeup at present ahead of next year's radical switch to turbo V6 power."We will go back to a time such as 20 years ago," Mercedes team boss Brawn is quoted by Auto Motor und Sport. "The technology is so complex that I expect a lot of failures. So there will be a new element of surprise."Brawn said the challenge will be intensified yet further by the tightening of F1's long-life engine rules, with each driver to be allocated just five units next year, rather than eight at present."And the failures will be not just the engines, but the individual components," he said. For instance, if turbochargers or batteries fail next year, replacing the component will attract the same penalty of a 10-place grid demotion, once the drivers' engine allocation has run out.http://www.autoweek.com/article/20130716/F1/130719876

Gledao sam start GP2 trke danas. To je oblak prašinčine!

Zar ne bi trebalo da je Alonso kaznjen?Ako se ne varam na kraju prethodne trke nije dovezao bolid do boksa, zar za to ne ide neka kazna?Sent from MH using Tapatalk 2
