bad music for bad people Posted July 20, 2015 Share Posted July 20, 2015 Nedelja, 23. avgust – Beograd @ KC Grad Lider The Shivas, Jared Molyneux (gitara i vokal), formirao je bend 2006, još u srednjoškolskim danima sa bratom (Colby Molyneux: bubnjevi) i ortakom (Eric Shanafelt: bas). U početku je postava bila nestabilna i menjala se u potrazi za idealnom. Ključni momenat je dolazak talentovane bubnjarke Kristin Leonard koja zauzima Kolbijevo mesto za bubnjevima i učestvuje u pisanju pesama. Po završetku srednje škole rani snimci izlaze kao prvi album „Where Have You Gone To“, The Shivas skreću pažnju na sebe i potom se ozbiljno bacaju na turneje po SAD, trudeći se da se usviraju i da se za njih čuje u svakom malom mestu. Drugi album „Freezing To Death“ izlazi dve godine kasnije potvrđujući veliki napredak naročito u sviračkom pogledu. The Shivas i dalje balansiraju između više 60’s žanrova (psychedelia, garage punk, surf, folk) kombinujući ih sa indie-pop stilom kome naginju, ali će tek sledeća dva albuma, „Whiteout“ iz 2013. (K Records / Burger Records) i prošlogodišnji „You Know What To Do“ (K Records / Burger Records), potvrditi The Shivas kao uistinu vredan mladi bend koji obećava. Posle solidnog komercijalnog uspeha „Whiteout“ albuma, Calvin Johnson (vlasnik K Records, osnivač bendova poput Beat Happening, Dub Narcotic Sound System) ih poziva da sledeći snime u Dub Narcotic studiju, sa njim kao ton majstorom i na old school način: direktno na magnetofonsku traku. U međuvremenu bend dolazi na prvu evropsku turneju, a po povratku u SAD K Records i Burger objavljuju „You Know What To Do“ koji je kruna devetogodišnje karijere The Shivas. Umeće da se kreću kroz žanrove i da ih s lakoćom prepliću ne napušta ih. Naprotiv, sada su na vrhuncu koji pretpostavlja tek sjajne ploče u vremenu koje predstoji, a obzirom na njihove mlade godine (još niko nije zakoračio u četvrtu deceniju!!) bilo bi razočaravajuće da do toga i ne dođe. Ovog leta The Shivas su ponovo na evropskoj turneji i ovaj put dolaze i u Beograd. Koncert je potvrđen za nedelju, 23. Avgust u Kulturnom centru Grad, a od 21:00. While still just out of high school, the Shivas toured the country ceaselessly in support of tapes on labels like Gnar and Burger while honing their songwriting chops. The results are found on Whiteout!, with equal parts sloppy fireball garage rock ("Swimming with Sharks," "Living and Dying Like Horatio Alger"), emotive melodic indie rock in the Pacific Northwest D.I.Y. tradition ("Gun in My Pocket"), faux surf ("No Waves), and even gentle harmonies sung over laid-back acoustic country arrangements ("Heart and Soul").
