IF Novak wins the Australian Open on Sunday, he’ll regain the #1 ranking and he will keep it at least until February 27.

That’s 3️⃣7️⃣8️⃣ weeks as #1 mathematically guaranteed.

Margaret Court 11 AO, takodje

Margaret Smith-Court won 24 slams, the most of any woman in the history of the game. 11 of them were AO titles and many say the don't count fully due to weak opposition. Here is a closer analysis of the fields in the years when Court was the winner:

1960: two non-Australian players in the field, #1 seed Bueno and #2 seed Truman (both top-10 players in 1960)

1961: one non-Australian player, top 8 seeds are Australian

1962: three non-Australian players, among them #2 seed Hard and #3 seed Ramirez (only Hard was a top-10 player in 1962)

1963: three non-Australian players, #4 seed Truman, #6 seed Starkie, #7 seed Lauder (none of them was a top-10 player in 1963)

1964: two non-Australian players, among them #7 Lauder (no top-10 player in 1964)

1965: 27 (!) non-Australian players, among them #2 Bueno, #4 King, #6 Graebner, #8 Jones (3 of them top-10 players in 1965)

1966: six non-Australian players, among them #2 Richey, #4 Graebner (only Richey a top-10 player in 1966)

1969: seven non-Australian players, among them#1 King, #3 Jones, #5 Casals, #10 Durr (3 of them top-10 players in 1969)

1970: four non-Australian players, among them #3 Shaw, #6 Sandberg (none of them a top-10 player in 1970)

1971: four non-Australian players, among them #4 Chanfreau, #5 Hogan, #7 Shaw (none of them a top-10 player in 1971)

1973: 18 non-Australian players, among them #3 Wade, #6 Sawamatsu, #9 Birioukova (only Wade a top-10 player in 1973)

11 slemova (od toga 6 u nizu) kakvi god da su, nije za bacanje. jesu svi oni generalno bili miljama daleko od danas ali i takvim uslovima da bi se neko izdvojio iznad treba da bude majstor, ne?
